1. FOOD TRUCKS
A quick weekend away to Hamilton and surrounds and we were lucky enough to get to try a handful of new Waikato food trucks. Finding new food trucks for us is like Christmas morning...the anticipation builds and you hope it's not boring old socks...you know what I mean.
Sometimes you just want to eat fries and How We Roll Barbecue hit the mark with their Hog Fries pictured below. Slow braised pork on top of cheesy, saucy fries. Classy, fresh and colourful bowls from Chur Bowl Food Caravan. Great to see pan-fried fish cooked perfectly from a food truck from The White Bullet.
2. GOURMET IN THE GARDENS EVENTS
Tania and team put on a great night of food trucks and live music in a number of Hamilton locations. The Hamilton Gardens appears to be the main spot but we were very fortunate to have visited their sister event at the stunning Lake Karapiro, Cambridge.

3. GREAT STREET FOOD EATERIES
We were spoilt for choice with the array of great street food restaurants in Hamilton. I love Vietnamese Street Food and as soon as I got the scent of lemongrass in my nose, I couldn't resist. A month travelling through Vietnam 15 years ago established my love of Vietnamese street food. Our lunch at the new Mekong Delta on Victoria Street was delicious and did not disappoint. The staff were super friendly and food was delicious. It was too hot for Pho Bo so we went for the non-traditional vegan version of Banh Mi and a slow braised pork on rice noodles that was bowl licking good.
