Taco Medic - Mexican Street Food And Food Truck
It all started 7 years ago after a surfing trip to Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico. Cousins Ant and Robbie decided to launch their own food truck down in Queenstown. Soon it grew to two iconic brick and mortar shops in the popular tourist town.
On Wednesday, the Love Street Food team took a trip to their epic new Ponsonby store for a sneak preview and to try their famous tacos. The doors will open for all from Friday 21st Jan. Let's cut to the chase, we loved it.
So what sets Taco Medic apart? The team wake up every morning to roll authentic corn tortillas from scratch and then fill them with the freshest local ingredients. All their ingredients and sauces are made in-house. Their menu is also proudly 100% gluten free, with a strong focus on sustainable produce.
Taco Medic's ethos is bringing people together with food with absurdly tasty, healthy, fresh, glorious tacos. Add to this their margaritas, craft beers, and sangria and you have a chilled out, mouth-watering Mexican foodie fiesta right here in Auckland. Plenty of menu variety as well with excellent vegan and vegetarian options.
Our Bajaman Fish Tacos (photo below) in particular were plate-licking good. You also have to try the Stockman Tacos. 12 hour slow braised beef brisket with a perfect amount of chipotle heat. Their 'Not Tacos' range is just as good. Their chips and dips with tomato salsas and guacamole are next level. Freshly made and served piping hot. None of the 'straight from a packet' junk you get in some places.
