There is a growing global interest in veganism and its appears that the 'meat substitutes' have finally gone mainstream in 2019. The big brands are piling in. Burger King has recently announced the birth of the 'Impossible Whopper'. Meanwhile Burger Fuel has already launched their plant based burger 'Beyond Beleaf' partnering with Beyond Meat, the Nasdaq listed purveyor of plant based burgers and sausages. It's shaping up nicely for the new breed of talented street food vendors in Auckland. We showcase 4 of our current vegan food truck favourites, Vege Bang Bang, Sweet As Bowl, Vege Pulse and Lulu's.

1. VEGE BANG BANG
Vege Bang Bang started trading a couple of years ago and have built a loyal following with their fresh spin on vegan food. From crunchy mushroom burgers, delectable laksa, flavoursome salads and now vegan cookies for those wanting a sweet treat. Owner Anna Brand and her team (including hubby Will) are passionate about delivering healthy, tasty, fresh and seasonal vegan food that everyone can enjoy. They have an extensive catering menu using a fusion of flavours and cuisines to create unique dishes for your private events, parties and weddings.
We had the pleasure of working with Anna at the beginning of journey and we are so happy to see her business grow.

2. SWEET AS BOWL
Sweet As Bowl are a Kiwi fusion plant-based food truck who are on an adventure to bring fun, connection, and unbelievably tasty kai to a range of events and occasions around Aotearoa. With a love for smoking food, over 18 years experience in the kitchen, and many overseas food adventures, these guys have got you covered. Their menu is full of incredibly creative dishes with names to match. Some of the highlights include their Cheenee Bowl which is a Kumara Arancini on a citrus slaw . We cannot wait to try their Delecta-Bowl (center photo) aka Vegan Chowder with smoked potato & kumara, roast mushrooms and vege
goodness cashew cream topped with watercress pesto, nori and crispy kumara.

3. VEGE PULSE
Let me start by telling you that their Mediterranean Lasagna was one of our favourite vegan dishes of 2019. I'll be honest...I may have licked the bowl at the end and I have no shame in telling you all that. Vege Pulse serve a variety of fresh whole food salads, nourish bowls and a comforting classics including that 'plate licking good' lasagna All of their salads are fresh, vegan and often gluten free. They now have a permanent spot at Catalina Bay and yes, they would love to cater for you and share their passion for their vibrant plant based cuisine.

4. LULU'S
We have recently discovered Lulu’s and loved it. They serve delicious creamy coconut soft serve twisted with a flavour of the day. It’s Dairy Free , Organic and 100% Vegan. Book them for your next event.
