La Cigale French Market Parnell
La Cigale French Market Parnell

If you have ever been to France, you will know that they produce arguably the finest pastries, breads, sweet treats and host of other mouth watering delicacies. Add to that the wine, the architecture, the language, the history, the coffee culture and you will understand why it is the most visited country on earth. We feature 4 of our favourite French Food Trucks that you should hire for your next events.

A little known fact is that the French were among the earliest European settlers in New Zealand and established a colony at Akaroa in the South Island. We are fortunate to have an excellent French market in La Cigale, (Parnell and Auckland) that we would highly recommend. Maison Vauron is our pick for the best French Wines and L'atelier du fromage for wonderful French cheeses, coffee, and pastries.

Little French Pastry create authentic French pastries and treats with a special passion for mille feuille - a handmade puff pastry composed of 729 delicate layers, filled and topped with luscious whipped ganache & finished with unique garnishes.

Brought up in the culinary home of pastry and with talents cultivated as pastry chef at Clooney - one of Metro’s Top 50 Restaurants, Benjamin Chevré founded Little French Pastry to bring authentic French flavours and intricately crafted pastries to the New Zealand market. Whether it be the delicately constructed tarts, the flavourful jar desserts or the company’s premium offering - the mille-feuille, Little French Pastry has a decadent creation to transport you to Brittany in one bite.

Crêpes Creation was founded by Catherine Boles in 2013.  Catherine is a native of Brittany in the North West of France where she grew up enjoying crêpes and galettes from local crêperies. After moving to New Zealand with her family she struggled to find authentic French crepes so Catherine decided it was time for a French-trained crêpe maker to treat Auckland's taste buds. Catherine's Origins was the initial name of the business and has since been renamed Crêpes Creations. Judging by the smiles and testimonials Aucklanders are welcoming Crêpes Creations with open arms.

You can find Catherine and her beautiful sweet and savoury crepes in both our Wedding Food Trucks category and Sweet and Savoury Food Trucks

Captain Crêpes's Chef Ronan Guilloux has embraced the vintage charm of Victoria Park Market where his new café has just opened it's doors. As an extension to the Captain's food truck, this new crêpe haven will serve the same heart-warming classics that you have enjoyed on their truck at events around Auckland. The Captain's best-sellers include: Chocolate, banana and almonds Pineapple, coconut and white chocolate Parma ham, goat cheese and honey Tuna, mustard cream and caramelised onions. If you are gluten free and vegetarians, the Captain's got you covered as well.

You can find the Captain in our Sweet and Savoury Food Trucks

4. GASTON ROTISSERIE

In 2018 Betrand, a French sommelier at Maison Vauron and his partner decided that there was a gap in the market for French style rotisserie chicken. After importing a beautiful little Citroen H van from the 'motherland', Gaston Rottiserie was born. Gaston Rotisserie use only Bostock’s Organic Free Range chicken and it could possibly be the most tender, flavour packed 'bird' in street food. Enjoy with French style garlic potatoes, a salad or a baguette.
